Logistics

Is there a lift / elevator?
No — Maribor's Attic is on the top floor of a residential building. Three flights of stairs. The building has a wide stairwell so luggage isn't a problem, but worth knowing if mobility is a concern.

How fast is the Wi-Fi?
200+ Mbps consistently. A1 5G mobile broadband — 5G towers are about 100 m from the apartment, so reception is strong. Plenty for video calls, large file transfers, streaming on multiple devices at once.

What's the check-in process?
Self check-in via lockbox. From Koroška cesta 43, walk through the passage into the courtyard behind — the house on your left is ours, with the lockbox at the door and the stairs up to the loft. The code arrives the day before via Airbnb message. Check-in any time after 16:00; checkout by 11:00.

How do I actually find the door?
The entrance is off the courtyard, not the street. Come to Koroška cesta 43, go straight through the building's passage into the courtyard, and the house on the left is Maribor's Attic. Open the door with the lockbox code, then it's stairs up to the top floor. There's a photo and a pin in your check-in message.

Where can I park?
Parking Pristan, the paid garage at Koroška cesta 35 — about 1–2 minutes' walk on the same street as the apartment, directly opposite the Pristan indoor swimming pool. Detailed walking directions and the current rate are in the check-in message.

Is there a balcony or terrace?
No private outdoor space. The windows look across the street at the Pristan complex — the city pools and a gym — and central Maribor's rooftops; an urban view, not a scenic one. The Drava waterfront and its café terraces are five minutes on foot.

Is there a pool or gym nearby?
Right across the street — the Pristan sports complex, about two minutes on foot. Indoor swimming pools and a well-equipped public gym, open to the public. You can see it from the living-room window.

Is there air conditioning / heating?
Both. Heating is infrared ceiling panels throughout the apartment, controlled per room and quick to respond. Cooling is a new 5.3 kW inverter air-conditioning unit in the open-plan living space — quiet, efficient, and ample for the July–August peaks when Maribor hits 30°C+. The bedrooms stay comfortable with the dormers open to the cooler night air.

Capacity + sleeping

How many can really sleep here comfortably?
Six. Master bedroom has a 180×200 cm king bed; the second bedroom has a 160×200 cm queen. Plus a transformable sofa in the living room that sleeps two. No air mattresses, no roughing it. Worth knowing: there's one bathroom, so groups of six should plan morning routines.

Can a baby cot fit in either bedroom?
Yes — a travel cot is available on request, free of charge, and fits comfortably in the master bedroom alongside the king bed. A high chair is also available on request.

Is the sofa-bed actually comfortable?
It's a real sofa-bed mechanism with a proper mattress, not a fold-out couch with thin foam. Two people sleep well on it.

Working remotely

Is it good for working remotely?
Yes. Open layout, 200+ Mbps Wi-Fi, plus a dedicated desk with an ergonomic chair (the kitchen island also doubles as a stand-up workspace). Coffee shops and quiet cafés five minutes' walk away. It's set up for a week or more of focused remote work, not just a night.

Is there a dedicated desk?
Yes — a real white desk with an ergonomic chair in the living area. The kitchen island works as a 90 cm stand-up workspace if you prefer to vary positions through the day.

Is the Wi-Fi reliable?
Yes. The connection is A1 5G (Slovenian mobile broadband) with towers ~100 m from the building, which is why speeds stay consistent above 200 Mbps. Latency is fine for video calls; this isn't a typical "phone hotspot" — it's a dedicated 5G router.

Location

How central is it really?
A five-minute walk to Glavni trg (main square). Five minutes to the Drava river. Six minutes to Lent and the world's oldest grapevine. You can leave the car parked and walk to almost everything you'd want in central Maribor.

Is it noisy at night?
Top-floor location helps — you're above the street level. The building is residential (not above a bar or restaurant). Quiet hours from 22:00 are real and respected. Some street noise during the day, none at night beyond occasional voices.

How far to Pohorje for skiing?
15 minutes by car to the gondola base station. The bus from central Maribor is also workable but slower. In ski season, plan to drive.

How far to wine country?
30–60 minutes depending which area. The Maribor wine hills are closest; Jeruzalem-Ormož is about an hour east. The Štajerska wine route is doable as a day trip, especially during harvest season (late September).

Practical

Are pets allowed?
Yes — well-behaved pets are welcome. Mention it when you book; a €25 pet-cleaning fee covers the extra turnover. Please keep them off the beds and sofa, and clean up after them on the stairs and in the building.

Is smoking allowed?
No smoking inside the apartment. The building is non-smoking.

Can I have visitors over during my stay?
Visitors are fine during the day. Overnight visitors who weren't on the booking aren't permitted.

What's the cleaning fee?
€25 flat per stay. Bringing a pet adds a €25 pet-cleaning fee.

What if I need to cancel?
Moderate cancellation policy: full refund up to 5 days before check-in; 50% refund 1–5 days before; no refund after that. Non-refundable rate available at ~10% discount if you book that option.

What's included?
Linens, towels, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap), basic kitchen supplies (salt, pepper, olive oil, coffee, tea), Wi-Fi, infrared ceiling-panel heating, inverter air conditioning, washer, fans.

With kids

Is it a good place to bring children?
Yes. Travel cot and high chair on request, both free. There's a blackout blind for the dormer skylight in the master so early summer light doesn't wake little ones. The second bedroom's structural column becomes a fort more often than not. Mestni park, with a playground and the aquarium-terrarium, is ten minutes on foot.

Are the stairs a problem with a pushchair?
Three flights, no lift. It's manageable — the stairwell is wide — but worth folding the pushchair for the climb. Most families leave it folded by the apartment door during the stay.

Skis, bikes, and gear

Can I bring ski or bike gear?
Yes — gear comes up the stairs without trouble; the stairwell is wide enough. Wet jackets and boots dry overnight on the infrared panels in the utility space. The Pohorje gondola is fifteen minutes by car; ski rental is at the base or in the centre.

Special situations

I'm coming for a wedding / event in Maribor — can you accommodate late check-in?
Self check-in works at any hour, so yes. Just message ahead so I know to expect you and ensure heating is set if you're arriving very late.

I'm staying for a month+ — is there a discount?
Yes — 30% monthly discount applies to stays of 28+ nights, automatically calculated by Airbnb.

Can I book directly with you instead of through Airbnb?
Not at the moment. We're considering a direct booking option for repeat guests later this year.
